Poll Everywhere for Mac fits seamlessly into your PowerPoint or Keynote presentation. Check for comprehension, collect live input, or host an interactive Q&A with Poll Everywhere.
After installing the Poll Everywhere for Mac presentation app and inserting some activities into your presentation you’re ready to present.
When presenting with Poll Everywhere for Mac, there are a few things to keep in mind.
Install the app
The Poll Everywhere for MacOS app must be installed on the computer you plan to present from.
If you plan to present from a computer other than the one you created the presentation on, make sure it has the Poll Everywhere for MacOS app installed as well.
You must be logged into your account using the Poll Everywhere for MacOS app.
While this isn’t usually an issue when using your own computer, it does come up when presenting from someone else’s. In the example above, you would need to make sure that on the other machine you were logged into your own Poll Everywhere account.
Present
Activities are only activated and displayed while in presentation mode.
As mentioned in the article on inserting activities into your presentation, after the activities have been inserted, slides with mockups of the activities appear in the presentation deck. To use your activity during your presentation, switch to Slide Show/Presentation mode as usual to begin your presentation.
Keynote: Click the Play button in the toolbar to enter Slide Show/Presentation mode.
PowerPoint: Select the Slide Show tab, then click either Play from Start or Play from Current Slide.
An activity will remain locked and unavailable for response until you navigate to that slide during your presentation. Once you do, the live activity will be displayed and (by default) unlocked and ready to receive responses. Once you navigate away from the slide, the activity will be closed to further responses.
Activity flows
The Activity flows feature allows you to reveal multiple choice activity results by navigating through your slide deck rather than interacting with the activity tools. This is handy if you’re not standing at the presentation computer, but using a clicker to navigate through your deck. Check out the Activity flows article for more information about using this feature.
Competitions
When presenting a competition you can clear the responses from within Keynote or PowerPoint without having to switch to the web. To do this, go to the Welcome slide, hover over the top right side of slide and click the Clear responses.
Helpful tip: This is the only activity slide button you’ll see on a competition and it will only appear on the Welcome slide.
