This article covers the changes you can make to your activities, which include the title, answer options, and activity settings. Changes to visual settings (like color scheme, font, background, etc.) are covered in a separate article.
Step 1: From the Activities tab, click on the folder that contains the activity you wish to edit.
Step 2: Click on the activity to edit, and select the Edit button.
You can make changes to the options listed below:
Change the title
The title is the question that you are asking the audience. To change it, click in the title field and make changes. To add an image, click on the images icon on the far right side of the text box.
Change the options
Mark an option as correct — Click the check mark to the left of the option to set it as the correct answer.
Change existing options — You can have an option that is text, an image, or text formatted with LaTeX.
Delete an option — Click on the Trash icon to remove an option.
Note: Poll Everywhere does not confirm the deletion before removing the option, and you cannot restore a deleted option.
Add an option — Click the Add option button below the existing options. If you have several options, you may have to scroll down to see the button.
Edit activity settings
The following settings control the activity’s behavior. Here you can determine how participants can respond to the activity, whether to require participants to identify themselves, and other types of response controls. Depending on your subscription level, you may not be able to access all of these features.
Response settings
Allow changing answers — You can allow participants to change their answer after they have submitted it. An open-ended poll only allows a participant 60 seconds to change their answer.
Limit responses per person — Control how many times each participant can respond to your poll.
Custom reply message — If you are using certain paid versions of Poll Everywhere, you can turn this on to display a message to each participant after they respond on their own device. You can read more about the feature here.
Helpful Tip: You can use this feature to include a hyperlink to another website directly from the participant's browser or text message.
Audience restrictions & identity
Anonymous participation — Allow participants to respond without revealing their identities. Once you turn this setting on and save, you cannot undo it. In addition, once this is toggled, only the Executive Summary report can be used for this activity. You can read more about the feature here.
Register participants — If you are using certain paid versions of Poll Everywhere, you can turn this setting on to require participants to sign up for a Poll Everywhere participant account or log in before they can respond. This allows you to track individual responses for grading purposes, or to know how someone specifically respond.
Helpful Tip: You can learn more about these features by checking out our Audience restrictions & identify.
How people can respond
Choose if participants can respond via text, through the PollEv.com website or both. If you want to read more about those specific response methods, we have another dedicated article found here.
After making changes to your activity, select the Save button in the upper right corner.
Edit a competition
Editing a competition is very similar to editing an activity, but with a few more options specific to a competition. For additional information on the specifics of these features for a competition, you can read our separate support article here.
Note: In a competition, sending a custom reply message and sending a text message are not available.
When you set a timer, participants have a specified amount of time available to answer the question. By default, this time is 20 seconds, but you can change this with the Adjust timer setting.
To make changes to each question and its answers, select a question from the thumbnail view on the left:
Add a question: Click the Add a question button below the thumbnail view.
Change the position of competition questions: In the thumbnail view, click on the question you want to move. Click the up and down arrows on the thumbnail view:
After making changes, select the Save button in the upper right corner.
