QR (quick response) codes are two-dimensional barcodes that can be scanned by a device, such as a smartphone. QR codes are often used to convey a wide variety of information. Poll Everywhere offers unique QR codes that are associated with a specific presenter. Participants scan the QR code with a smart device and are taken to the presenter’s pollev.com URL via a web browser.
QR codes are great for boosting the visibility of voting instructions and allowing participants to join your session quickly and easily. This is especially useful for those with complicated pollev.com URLs.
At the moment, QR codes are still a beta feature, which requires the presenter to turn on the feature manually. All beta features can be found in the instructions below:
How to turn on this beta feature
Step 1: Click the Profile icon on the bottom of the left-side navigation bar.
Step 2: From the profile section, click Features lab to view all of the pre-release and beta features available. Click the Beta features tab.
Step 3: Find the PollEv QR codes section and turn the switch to On to start using QR codes. Save your new settings by hitting the Apply lab settings button. Now you have QR codes!
Displaying QR codes
Once you’ve turned on QR codes for your account, a small QR code will appear next to your pollev.com URL in the instruction section of the activity slide. This will be the same for presenting via the web page and slideware.
Once your activity is active, you can click on the QR code to magnify it to the full screen. This should make it easier for your participants to scan it.
You have the option of downloading an image/PNG file version of your QR code to easily share with your participants.
Step 1: Click on the Profile icon in the lower-left corner which will take you directly to the Personal info
Step 2: From here, underneath your Username, you will see Download QR Code. This will save a PNG file version of your QR code to your device.
Note: QR codes are unique to your pollev.com URL and not to an individual activity. The QR code will only display the activity that is currently active.
