Poll Everywhere 1.0: SP certificate rotation

Poll Everywhere's SAML SP certificate is rotating on 22 November 2026. Most 1.0 accounts need to do nothing; here is how to check and what to hand to your SAML team.

What is changing Poll Everywhere's Service Provider (SP) certificate, the one we publish in your SAML metadata, expires on 29 November 2026. We have added the new certificate to your metadata alongside the current one. Poll Everywhere will switch to the new certificate automatically on Sunday 22 November 2026 at 19:00 EST (Monday 23 November 00:00 UTC).

This is our certificate, not your identity provider's (IdP) certificate. For the IdP certificate, see SAML set-up and certificate rotations walkthrough.

What you need to do Hand this page to your SAML or identity team.

  • Most accounts need to do nothing. Identity providers don't validate the SP certificate by default.
  • If your IdP has SP certificate validation enabled (for example it encrypts assertions with our certificate, or verifies our signed requests), it must trust the new certificate before the cutover. Add the new certificate and keep the current one until the switch has happened.

Where to find the new certificate

  1. Sign in to Poll Everywhere as the account owner. Only the account owner and admins can open the page below.
  2. Open polleverywhere.com/account/saml_integrations/certificate_rotations.
  3. Download your metadata. It contains both the current and the new certificate.
  4. The page shows the cutover date in your time zone and in UTC.

If you are not the account owner or admin, ask your account owner to download the metadata for you.

After the cutover: The current certificate stays in your metadata after 22 November; it is not removed automatically. We expect to remove it in the week after 30 November.

Want to switch earlier? Contact support. We can switch your integration to the new certificate immediately or coordinate a time with you. The cutover on 22 November cannot be delayed.

Future rotations: This is rare, roughly once every five years. We will give customers 60 days' notice before the next SP certificate rotation.
