Poll Everywhere isn’t just for live sessions. With response links, you can collect responses asynchronously—allowing participants to complete polls on their own schedule, without requiring a live presentation or active session. This is especially useful for:
- Homework or self-paced assignments
- Attendance before or after class
- Course feedback or evaluations
- Pre-lecture engagement
A response link is a shareable URL that gives participants access to a set of questions (typically grouped in a poll folder or pulse). Once enabled, participants can:
- Answer questions in order, one at a time
- Submit their responses when finished
- Receive a confirmation that their responses were recorded
Unlike live polls, the presenter doesn't need to activate each question. The response link handles everything asynchronously.
Note: Some interactive elements, like leaderboards and attendance questions are not currently supported in asynchronous mode.
Creating a Response Link
There are two main ways to generate a response link: from a group of polls or directly through the Polls tab.
Create from a Poll Group
- Open the poll group you'd like to share
- Click the Share dropdown
- Go to the Participants section
- Enable the response link and set optional start and end dates
- Copy and share the link
Create from the Polls Tab
- Click on the Polls tab in the left sidebar
- Select the group of polls by checking the box
- Click the three dots menu (⋯)
- Choose the Response link
- Enable and configure as needed
Sharing and Managing Response Links
Once enabled, the response link remains active until the end date (if specified). You can:
- Copy and paste the link into LMS platforms, emails, or announcements
- Disable the link to pause submissions temporarily
- Delete or rotate the link if you want to prevent future access
When participants visit the link, they’ll see one question at a time. After completing the set, they click Finish to submit.
If the link is disabled or expired, participants will see a message indicating that responses are no longer being accepted.
