Poll Everywhere Live App: Install & Setup

    The Poll Everywhere Live Companion App is a desktop app that helps presenters activate and deactivate polls directly from their slide deck, without switching windows or clicking back to the browser.

    The app detects special Poll Everywhere QR codes on your screen and gives you a floating control to manage live polls while presenting. This feature is currently under active development.

    Download and install (macOS and Windows)

    Open the Poll Everywhere Live page here: Download link

    1. Open the download page and select Mac.

    2. Open the downloaded .dmg file.

    3. Drag the Poll Everywhere Live App into your Applications folder.

    4. Open the app. If macOS asks whether you’re sure you want to open it, confirm.

    Note: On first launch, the app will guide you through granting the permissions it needs to work correctly on macOS. You’ll be prompted to enable: Screen Recording, Audio Recording, Accessibility, Automation.

    Each permission includes step-by-step instructions. After granting permission, the app may ask you to quit and reopen; this is expected. Once all required permissions are enabled, you’ll proceed to the welcome screen.These permissions allow the app to detect QR codes on your screen. Screenshots are processed locally on your device and are not uploaded to the cloud.

    Windows

    1. Open the download page and select Windows.

    2. Open the installer from your Downloads folder.

    3. Follow the installation prompts to complete setup.

    Note: On Windows, installation is straightforward download, install, then sign in. No additional system permission setup is typically required.

    Sign in

    Sign in using your Poll Everywhere account. The app supports passkeys and standard login flows (such as Google sign-in).

    If you belong to multiple organizations, you’ll be asked to choose which one to use.
