Your profile settings let you personalize your account, update your information, and manage your security, location preferences, data exports, and AI features. Whether you're updating your name, setting your time zone, enabling two-factor authentication, or reviewing your data, your profile is the place to go.
These settings help you control how your account works, how your responses are tracked, and how you interact with your organization.
Accessing your profile settings
To open your profile settings:
Sign in to your account
Click your name or avatar in the bottom-left corner
Select My Settings
You’ll see multiple tabs to manage your personal info, security, features, and data
Managing your personal information
In the Personal Information tab, you can edit the following:
Your name:
You can update your first and last name. This is the name shown on polls, reports, and your profile. If you're using single sign-on (SSO), name changes may sync with your organization automatically.
Time zone:
Choose your time zone so that reports, schedules, and timestamps match your location. This is especially useful if you travel or switch devices often.
Join code:
Your join code is the unique URL participants use to access your sessions (for example, pe.app/YourJoinCode). You can change this code as long as it’s available. The system will check availability and suggest alternatives if needed.
Updating your account email
Your email address is used for signing in and receiving important notifications. You can update it from your profile settings, but you will be asked to verify the new email. Make sure you have access before starting the change.
If you're part of an SSO-managed organization, your email may be locked, and only your IT administrator can update it.
Security settings
Poll Everywhere provides tools to help keep your account secure:
Change your password:
You can update your password at any time. New passwords must meet complexity requirements (minimum 8 characters, include both letters and numbers, and be different from previous passwords).
Enable two-factor authentication (2FA):
We recommend turning on 2FA for added security. You can choose to receive codes via an authenticator app or SMS. The system will ask you to verify your identity before enabling.
Active sessions:
You can review all currently logged-in devices and sign out of sessions you don’t recognize. It may take a few minutes for remote sign-outs to take effect.
Attendance locations
Attendance settings allow you to define where participants must be physically located to get credit for attending a session. You can add locations and set allowed radii to ensure accuracy.
This is useful for verifying in-person participation when required.
AI and feature preferences
You can turn features like AI-powered poll creation or attendance tracking on or off from your profile. These settings may be managed at the organization level, so if an option is unavailable, check with your admin.
Changes to these settings affect how you use Poll Everywhere, and in some cases, how your collaborators use shared content.
Exporting your data
In the My Data tab, you can download a copy of your poll data. You’ll be able to set a date range and choose the format (by question or by response). Exports include poll titles, questions, responses, timestamps, and respondent information.
Once a report is ready, click the download icon. Exports are automatically deleted after 90 days.
Deleting your account data
You can request permanent deletion of your Poll Everywhere data from your profile. This will remove all polls, responses, and account history that you’ve created. Responses you submitted to other presenters will remain, but your identity will be anonymized.
To delete your data:
Go to the My Data section
Review the consequences of deletion
Type the confirmation phrase:
“I understand that my data will be deleted permanently”Click "Delete My Data"
We strongly recommend downloading your data, transferring ownership of shared content, and canceling subscriptions before deleting your account.
Troubleshooting profile issues
If you’re having trouble updating your settings, here are a few things to check:
Some settings may be restricted if your account is managed by your organization or uses SSO
Make sure you’re clicking "Save" after making changes
Try switching browsers or clearing your cache
Check for typos or validation errors when updating your email or password
If you're not receiving email confirmations, check your spam folder and whitelist notifications from Poll Everywhere
Profile best practices
To keep your account secure and running smoothly:
Use a strong, unique password
Enable two-factor authentication
Keep your profile and email address up to date
Review your settings every few months
Export your data periodically
Update your time zone when traveling
Never share your login credentials
Organization-managed accounts
If you're part of an enterprise or school-managed account, some features in your profile may be restricted. Your organization may control your email, data retention settings, or authentication method. If something appears locked or uneditable, reach out to your IT team or account admin for help.
