In this article:
The Gradebook report is a compact table which displays a list of participants and how well they scored during your quiz/presentation. While you can include any activity type in Gradebook report, itis most typically used for Multiple choice and Clickable image activities as these allow you to assign correct answers/regions. For information on how to add correctness to activities, visit the Grade or score responses article.
Helpful tip: If any of the questions in your run allow anonymous responses then you will not be able to create a Gradebook report. The Executive summary report is the only report type which works with anonymous activities.
Title and date
At the top of the report you’ll find the report title. Directly below the title is the date the report was run. The links to the right of the title and date allow you to edit the title and update the report anytime you wish.
Sort and legend
Directly below the title and date is a tool which allows you to sort the order of your gradebook. You can sort by First name, Last name, Rank, Grade, or Participation. To the right of the Sort button you can toggle the legend which explains the grading marks if you should need it.
Gradebook table
Below the Sort and Legends buttons lies the Gradebook table itself. Each row lists the following data for a single response:
- Rank: Sorts by correctness and speed across all activities. In case of a tie in correctness, the fastest to respond wins.
- Grade: Percentage of total correct responses across all activities. Responses to ungraded activities are not counted. If multiple responses per question are allowed, any correct response marks the entire response correct.
- Participation: Percentage of activities answered by the participant.
- Polls: Indicates correctness of participants’ responses.
Below the Gradebook table details the report provides you with averages across the entire class.
Helpful tip: If you hover your mouse over a question or response icon, a pop up will appear showing you the detailed data.
LMS export
This report may be exported directly to your LMS allowing you to quickly sync your gradebooks. To do so, click the LMS export button in the bottom right. Select your LMS from the list and then follow the instructions provided.
Visit the LMS integration section for more information.
Download a CSV
Near the bottom right of the report is a Download button (check out the Downloading a report CSV article if you need detailed instructions.
CSV stands for Comma Separated Value. A CSV file is a text file which stores tabular data in plain text. If you open a CSV file in a text editor (e.g. NotePad, WordPad, TextEdit, etc.) you’ll see a string of values (words, numbers, etc.) separated by commas, like this:
CSV files can also be opened up and edited in a spreadsheet application such as Excel. You can then format, run calculations, and create charts as with any other spreadsheet. This is where the usefulness of the Pivot response table really shines.
The Gradebook report CSV file provides more data than is seen on the screen. While the web interface simply tells you if the participant’s response was correct, the CSV file tells you what their response was. Here’s a look at the data the Gradebook CSV file contains.
- First name: If the participant is registered with your account you’ll see their first name.
- Last name: If the participant is registered with your account you’ll see their last name.
- Screen name
- Custom report ID: If your organization uses this feature, you’ll see the participant’s custom report ID.
- Email: If the participant is registered with your account you’ll see their email address.
- Rank: As explained above, this sorts by correctness and speed across all activities.
- Total Points Possible
- Total Points Earned
- Participants response: The first row shows the activity title followed by the responses of each participant.
- Points earned
From column “L” and after list the activities/responses and points earned for each activity in the report.

To the right of the report body is the options menu. From here you can change report types and select several specific options for your report. Visit the article on report options for more details.
