2.0 supports Response Links, a powerful way to collect responses asynchronously, without needing to present a poll live. This is the modern replacement for Surveys and Asynchronous Polls from Poll Everywhere 1.0.
Whether you’re collecting feedback, distributing self-paced activities, or embedding polls, response links make it simple.
What is a Response Link?
A response link is a unique URL that lets participants complete a poll on their own time. It removes the need for a presenter to activate the poll live. Once enabled, participants can walk through the entire activity on their own and submit responses whenever it's convenient.
This makes response links ideal for:
Asynchronous participation
Homework-style activities
Feedback collection
Self-paced assessments
Participants click through each question and complete the poll independently. When they reach the end, they'll receive a confirmation message.
How to enable a response link
To enable a response link:
Go to your activity or poll
Click the Share button in the top-right
Select Share with participants
Enable the Response link toggle
Once enabled, a copyable URL is generated. You can distribute this link via email, chat, or any other method. You don’t need to activate the poll to collect responses. As long as the response link is enabled and within the configured start and end times, responses will be recorded.
How it works for participants
Once participants open the link, they’ll move through the poll question by question, using the Next button. At the end, they’ll click Finish and see a confirmation message.
If you’ve enabled correct answers, anonymity, or grading, those settings will still apply in a response link the same way they would in a live presentation.
Note: Currently, attendance questions and leaderboards are not supported. These are disabled automatically when using a response link.
Managing your response links
Once a link is active, you have flexible controls to manage availability:
You can toggle the link off at any time. The URL remains the same, but responses are temporarily disabled.
If needed, you can delete the link entirely. This deactivates it permanently and frees you to create a new one.
Use the rotate option to generate a fresh link if you’re concerned about security or want to reset access. Rotating keeps all other settings the same.
You can set start and end times for when the link should accept responses. These respect your account’s time zone and will automatically prevent submissions outside that range.
Viewing and Managing Your Response Links
To see all your existing response links, click your name or avatar and open My Settings. Under Response Links, you’ll see a list of all polls that currently have links enabled.
If someone shares a poll with you and you generate a response link from it, responses submitted through your link are attributed to you. However, the original poll owner retains full visibility and management over all response links associated with their activity.
Owners can view, activate, deactivate, or delete any response links created on their polls — including those created by collaborators. Collaborators cannot manage each other’s links.
Embedding Response Links
Embedding a Response Link allows participants to view and respond to a poll without leaving the page, making it ideal for assignments, modules, and asynchronous participation.
An embedded Response Link displays the Poll Everywhere poll inline on the page. Participants can respond directly in the embed, using the same rules and settings as the original Response Link. If no dates are selected, the poll will stay active indefinitely.

Key Behavior and Considerations
Response links let you bypass the requirement to present a poll live.
Participants see a clean, paginated experience with a Finish button at the end.
You can toggle, rotate, or delete links without affecting the original poll content.
All responses flow into reports just like they would during live participation.
Time-based access can be enforced using start/end settings.
Poll owners always retain control over any response links created from their content.
