Poll Everywhere 2.0 Brightspace Setup Guide for Instructors

    Introduction

    Instructors can import their course rosters from their school’s Brightspace LMS into Poll Everywhere. This automatically registers each student as a Poll Everywhere participant. Registering students with Poll Everywhere allows educators to easily identify how students responded to their activities and export Poll Everywhere gradebook reports as grade columns within Brightspace.

    Pre-requisites

    • Ensure your admin has configured Poll Everywhere as a tool / link available to you
    • Ensure you are logged in as an instructor that has Navbar permissions
      • To give instructors Navbar permissions, an admin will need to set it up via Brightspace -> Roles and Permissions -> Instructors -> and filter settings by Navbars. The suggestion is to enable everything for Manage Navbars except for "Organization".

    Add Poll Everywhere 2.0 to a course as an instructor

    Step 1: As an instructor, select the course you wish to add Poll Everywhere 2.0 to.

    Step 2: Hover over the course navbar until you see a ... button. Click the ... and then click Manage all course navbars.

     

    Step 3: Edit the Navbar you wish to use or Create Navbar

    Step 4: Ensure a name has been provided for the navbar. For example "Poll Everywhere 2.0 Navbar".

    Step 5: Click Add Links

    Step 6: Create a Custom Link.

    1.  Click Custom Links and click Create Custom Link.
    2. Provide a name for the Custom Link such as "Poll Everywhere 2.0".
    3. Click Insert Quicklink -> External Learning Tools and select Poll Everywhere 2.0.
    4. For Behavior set Same Window. Otherwise, the link will open in a different page.
    5. Limit to specific roles and select the following roles:
      1. Super Administrator
      2. Administrator
      3. Designer
      4. Instructor
      5. Facilitator
    6. Click Create, close the list of links, then click Add Links again to refresh the ilst.

     

    Step 7: Add the Poll Everywhere 2.0 link (Or the name of your Poll Everywhere tool) as a link to add to your Navbar. Also add any other links to your Navbar at this time.

    Step 8: Add, then Save and Close.

    Step 9: Select the Poll Everywhere 2.0 Navbar as your active navbar. Click Apply.


    You should now see Poll Everywhere 2.0 in your Navbar for the given class ✅

    Pro tip: You can re-use the Navbar that contains the Poll Everywhere 2.0 integration for other classes.
